Internet Marketing Resources to Make Money for Your Online Business

There are many struggling business owners out there frantically doing research online to find any means of generating additional income. But what sites can you trust? What if you don’t have the time to experience an entire trial-error approach. Maybe you just need an honest recommendation of a few tools that can help. That, I can provide.

All day long I hear about tools and resources for online business promotion and marketing. Why? Because I do web development and internet marketing for a living. (I love it by the way!!)

So here is a small list I have compiled to help you in the summer of 2009. I plan to add to this list throughout the next few months as well, so keep an eye out.

  • Want to get online exposure via social networking sites? In general, these are the top 3 to spend your time on:
    1. Facebook – Also a social networking site, but the most popular one to date with almost 200 million users.
      • Facebook has an advertising component which allows you to reach the exact audience you want with relevant targeted ads. To learn more, go to
    2. Linked – LinkedIn is an online network of more than 30 million experienced professionals from around the world, representing 150 industries. Build your network and connect to new potential clients from around the world.
    3. – Twitter is a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time. You can type posts of up to 160 characters (called “Tweets”) about what’s on your mind (about the weather, your business, sports updates, anything!)
      • Want a GREAT resource for Twitter?? Introducing This utility allows you to create all of your tweets for the week and schedule them to drop at different times. Perfect for the busy entrepreneur that doesn’t have time to tweet all day long.
      • Want to post the URL of your website on Twitter, but it’s too long? Go to and make your URL shorter.
  • The world’s best way to keep track of all your passwords for free – right on your desktop for privacy and security. I manage hundreds of passwords between myself and clients. I LOVE this free program called KeePass. You can store any information that you want secured and it’s very user friendly.
  • A website that has a wealth of business resources! It’s called The Small Biz College and they have broken their resources into compartments such as: Legal/Taxes, Non-Profits, HR, Insurance, Business Credit, Franchising, Biz Software, Private Label products, Real Estate and Affiliate Marketing. I use it and it’s definitely worth taking a look at for your business.
  • An addicting way to search for related Forget – this is way more fun and seems to populate more keywords.
  • This may or may not be useful to you, but it sure helped me in the past at times. Ever need to know what 242 pixels means? I found a great pixels to inches (and vice versa) converter that is easy to use and accurate.
  • Want to make a banner ad for free? Check out this site
  • Are you *not* a computer savvy person? You buy software to try and learn how to design a brochure or business cards and it doesn’t come naturally to you? My programmer told me about this resource called that has video training tutorials on learning different software out there. Anything from Microsoft Word to Adobe Dreamweaver.
  • Did you build a website and now you want to see what your site looks like in Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8? As a web developer I can tell you that different Internet browers (Safari, FireFox, Internet Explorer) sometimes read web site code differently. So before you publish your site and make it live, ALWAYS check to see what your site looks like in different browsers. There are “render” programs out there that take a screenshot of your site in these different browsers. One for all Internet Explorer versions that has worked wonders for me is called IE Net Renderer. Check it out.

Alright, that should be a good start for you. Let’s build a list together of awesome online resources! Send me a comment with 2 or 3 that you have found and use. Again, let’s only list trusted sites
