How to Get a Vanity URL with Google+
By: Amber Ludwig
With Google+ out and gaining rapid interest, you may be wondering how to get a customized URL to your profile page – one that has your name or company name in the URL instead of a bunch of meaningless numbers.
This customized URL is called a vanity URL and this same feature can be achieved with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube!
Google+ doesn’t have this option integrated into Google+ just yet, but I’ve discovered a Plan B that achieves the same result. Check it out:
Step 1. Go to your Google+ and click on your name to get to your profile page.
Step 2. In the top URL bar you’ll see the link to your profile page is something that looks like this: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103959927931081174806/posts?hl=en
Step 3. You’ll want to copy the long strong of numbers only (https://plus.google.com/u/0/103959927931081174806/posts?hl=en) — this is your number ID
Step 4. Next go to www.Gplus.to and you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

What is Google+ and Why Should We Use Google+?
By: Amber Ludwig
Maybe like many of you, I’ve been trying to “get into” Google+ – Google’s new social network.
Do I think it is a “must” to be on Google+? Yes.
Do I think it is worth your time to learn it and love it? Yes.
I believe this social network will be a major player (and already is for some). I find myself resistant only because I don’t love how you gain friends. It’s just different, not bad. With Facebook, you can click a button and send a “friend request” and the other person accepts – now you are connected. They can see your posts and you can see theirs.
Google+ is setup more like Twitter in that you can follow me, but I won’t automatically follow you or anything. I do get a notification that you’ve added me to your “Circle” (a Circle allows you to separate your friends into different lists such as ‘co-workers, family, friends’). From there, I can choose to add you to my Circle. I guess this seems less official and fun to me. But, no reason to not get on Google+.

What is a Backlink and How to Get Lots of Them!
By: Amber Ludwig
A backlink is basically a link to your website from another website (an inbound link). Backlinks are key to good Search Engine Optimization (SEO)! The more links you have pointing to your website, it conveys a message to Google and Bing about how important your website is. The more important your website is, the higher you rank in search engines. Another reason backlinks are key is because it opens portals for getting traffic from different avenues. If you have 50 websites linking to yours and they all get decent traffic – imagine how that could boost your visitation!
Note: Google ranks a page or post of your website based on over 200 sets of criteria. Backlinks are merely one of them. But, a key one.

“I Ran Out of Things to Write About on My Blog!”
By: Amber Ludwig
Sound familiar? Today I have 3 quick tips to get you back on your feet and writing again.
This is a common thought among bloggers and writers who have had a blog or website over 6 months. See below for my hit list of ideas to get you fueled so you can go back to inspiring and impacting your followers…
Tip #1:
Search what questions people in your industry need answers to. Yahoo Answers is a huge community of web users that post questions and answers. Anyone can do it – it’s easy!! Go to http://answers.yahoo.com/ click on the “Browse Categories” tab, find the category closest to your industry and find TONS of questions.
How can this help you? Knowing what your audience needs is one of the biggest keys to writing success. Especially with how quickly we can get the answers we are looking for, you have tons of competition out there. By going to Yahoo Answers, you should at least get a few ideas for what you can write about. Then, before you know it, your writer’s block will disappear!
