Part 2 of 3: Blast From The Past, Wicked Resources

21 Top Posts Everyone Needs to Read About Online Business Development Continued… A Series by Amber Ludwig.

This 2nd post in the 3-part series continues “Blast From the Past” week where I deliver the top insights and training pieces I’ve written over the past 18 months. Below I have selected the best Resource posts that still include current training material. Print them out, share then on Facebook/Twitter, or just enjoy the content!

Have You Thought of Facebook as Your Opt-In List Yet?

If you’ve studied Internet Marketing at all, you’ve heard “build a list, build a list, build a list!” This is sound advice. Building a list of email addresses, people that are interested in following you – this can be your greatest online asset over time. Of course you’ll want to handle your “list” with care. Don’t spam, don’t email every day, etc etc.

Follow my logic here for a moment… People are subscribing to lists less and less. Some have asked if that burst of squeeze pages, newsletter signup forms and ethical bribes (like an eBook giveaway) are going away for good even. No, I don’t believe they are.

Tynt Insight: Auto-Adds Your URL When People Copy Your Content

It’s free. It’s easy. It’s a must.

Tynt Insight is a company I found when searching for WordPress plugins. I was specifically searching for a plugin that automatically adds your URL to the copied content a visitor snatches. (No, I’m not an affiliate, just sharing a great tool.)

I’m all for someone sharing the goods. Some are not, and for you, there are plugins that don’t allow anyone to copy your content. They do this by disabling your visitor’s ability to right click, among other things. But, I’m all about sharing the wealth so feel free to share my content.

How to Get Copyright Protection on Your Blog or Website

I have pooled some resources for you to look at for copyright protection on your blog or website. This is something you would be considered crazy to “put off”. Fast forward, someone has copied your content and called it their own. How do you feel? What can you do?

It’s important that you protect your own website or blog with the appropriate copyright actions, but also, that you use and refer to others content without violating their copyright.

Below you will find links to valuable copyright tips, rules and resources. Take a good amount of time to look into this to ensure you are protected and not doing anything that could be cause for action from another.

Custom Facebook Fan Page Profile Pictures for $30

Creating a Facebook Fan Page is hot, hot, hot. It seems like every day I’m getting requests for liking dozens of new pages that popped up overnight.

I wanted to show you a few examples of what you *could* do with your Facebook Fan Page profile picture. I’d say less than 1/4 of the pages have really utilized the 200x600px space they’ve been given. Most have a small logo or medium sized headshot. If this Fan Page is showcasing your business, why not tell people more?

See below for a few examples of effective ways the profile picture space was used:

Ian Lurie, Conversation Marketing and The On-Page SEO Cheatsheet

Today I’d like to share with you a wonderful Internet Marketing resource that I came across the other day. Ian Lurie runs a popular blog called “Conversation Marketing“.

Ian says, “After 13 years as an Internet marketer, I’ve pieced together my experiences with the technology, communications and design issues inherent in our business, and built Conversation Marketing as a rubric for good decision making.”

Ian Lurie

Ian’s writing is witty, smart and full of valuable goodies. One great goodie I found was titled, “The On-Page SEO Cheatsheet“. It’s a 2-page visual SEO guide which teaches you the top priority SEO tactics you need to learn to get ranked well in Google, Bing and other top search engines.

IM FacePlate: Another Internet Marketing Tool to Increase Traffic/Exposure via Social Networking

Within the past few posts, we’ve talked about Backlinks (and their awesome powers!) plus these Online Interactive Contact Cards (DooID and OnePage) that keep popping up everywhere. IM FacePlate is a new Internet Marketing tool you can use to create more traffic, more exposure AND give you more backlinks! I knew you’d get interested.

IM FacePlate is very similar to LinkedIn actually, but has some cool add-ons and an advanced internal marketing area to help you promote your faceplate. Here’s an image to give you an example of my IM FacePlate:

What is a Backlink and How to Get Lots of Them!

A backlink is basically a link to your website from another website (an inbound link). Backlinks are key to good Search Engine Optimization (SEO)! The more links you have pointing to your website, it conveys a message to Google and Bing about how important your website is. The more important your website is, the higher you rank in search engines. Another reason backlinks are key is because it opens portals for getting traffic from different avenues. If you have 50 websites linking to yours and they all get decent traffic – imagine how that could boost your visitation!
