Website Design is one of the most essential elements of starting a website. The design of your website will convey a message to new visitors and you have the ability to control what their impression is. Having a web design that sends the wrong message to your audience can have an impact on your bounce rate (the rate at which someone clicks on your site and immediately clicks the back button within 5 seconds). Having an ineffective design will cost you money! It’s the money you could be making if people signed up for your list, stayed to look through your resources or hired you for your services. A website design that lacks proper Internet Marketing planning and strategy is something we see often, unfortunately, but something you can change luckily. When we sit down with a new client we will review their existing design and discuss the holes which lead to visitors exiting the site without taking action. When sitting down with a new client who wants to start a website, we teach them the proven strategies for web design that will get them a higher conversion rate and better long-term results. Below I have listed a few key [...]

Creating a Facebook Fan Page is hot, hot, hot. It seems like every day I’m getting requests for liking dozens of new pages that popped up overnight. I wanted to show you a few examples of what you *could* do with your Facebook Fan Page profile picture. I’d say less than 1/4 of the pages have really utilized the 200x600px space they’ve been given. Most have a small logo or medium sized headshot. If this Fan Page is showcasing your business, why not tell people more? See below for a few examples of effective ways the profile picture space was used: You’ll definitely see a wide variety of Facebook Fan Page profile images above and that’s not a bad thing. Your profile image should reflect you (and what you do!). What are a few things you could consider adding to your profile picture? Your logo Your photo URLs to websites or other social profile pages Let your visitors know how you want them to take action, ie. “Sign up for…”, “Don’t forget to…” A short testimonial that says it all A bullet list of services you provide A catchy headline that explains why you are different and [...]

Maybe your a beginner designer, or you are an author and just came out with an eBook you need a cool cover for. How can you get your design to stand out? I suggest, downloading free fonts – gothic fonts, script fonts, word fonts, handwriting fonts, tattoo fonts – all free for you to download depending on where you go. I’ve actually researched a bit, where you can go to get free but SAFE fonts. I found a website that I now use exclusively, www.UrbanFonts.com. You can search fonts by category and view the styles without having to go through a ton of hoops. I’ve probably download a few dozen fonts from their site without problem 1. Check out the Right Sidebar of this site. See that eBook, “57 Tips to a Better Blog”? Now, look toward the bottom of the book and check out that script: Believe it or not, that’s just a font – not something I designed. See how you can set your designs apart from the crowd with simply finding a cool font? So how do you download the fonts so you can use them in your design? Using UrbanFonts.com, once you find the font you [...]

Sharon Ludwig has been a residential home builder and land developer for over 15 years. Although construction was truly a great passion while rearing her two beautiful daughters, Kimberly and Amber, Sharon continually received what she called “downloads” of creative artistic ideas. Although she incorporated many of these expressions in her projects, most were filed under “Creation Folder” on her computer. As Life tends to provide exactly what we need albeit sometimes challenging for purposes of growth, the real estate market fell into its current doom and gloom condition. Consequently, Sharon at long last found herself with time on her hands, thus BySheSaid.com was born. Although the web site is currently under construction, “Gateway” a division of BySheSaid.com is well under way. Beautiful rusted metal gates with subtle touches of stained glass and gentle aspects of Nature such as vines, leaves, and flowers are being created and installed with word traveling rapid fire. Each of Sharon’s creations hold a subtle esoteric message inviting the owner to reflect on the deeper meaning of Life. Other products by Gateway include light sconces, bath accessories and electrical plate covers for the home. When asked about the name “She Said,” Sharon explains her belief [...]

Custom Twitter Backgrounds (see below for examples) can hands down increase your followers! If you are using Twitter to get business exposure then you need as many followers as you can get your hand on. What if I get a follower who doesn’t appear to be interested in my Twitter topics? It doesn’t matter. When “SarahJ” becomes a follower of you, your tweets show up in her Feed (where all of HER followers can see what tweets SarahJ’s followers make). So, naturally, someone else in SarahJ’s network will be interested in what you have to say…then that person will follow you too. Now you are showing up in that person’s feed where even more can see what you have to tweet. See how it snowballs?? There are plenty of tips I can give you about maximizing Twitter. A few include… Tweet often! The more you tweet, the more followers (and business!) you will get. Try twittering at different times of the day to see when you get the best responses. Use tools like Social Oomph to schedule tweets to drop later (if you’re busy like me), twollow to auto-follow targeted followers that are interested or working in your market, and/or [...]

Darrell Hornbacher, of www.Midas-Financial.com, approached me this morning and asked if I would please design a cover for his upcoming eBook (sure to be a hit!). I was more than happy to help out. I thought I’d share with you what was created, where the ideas came from and what his response was. Get Details About “The Midas Guide to Credit and Business Funding” » Darrell Hornbacher is a small business solutions consultant specializing in finance. Having owned and sold 12 successful small businesses over the last 15 years, Darrell brings a wide range of experience and a strong background to his small business clientele. Darrell’s website is www.Midas-Financial.com. He wanted something that would match his name and brand, but also not copy it completely. I think a lot of eBooks tend to have a similar look. And I don’t feel that many of them convey trust. They all seem to follow the “Get Rich Quick” theme that is a turn off to me. For this eBook, I wanted to convey trust – I thought if it could convey simple confidence, we may see an increase in book sales. This is what was produced… Buy “The Midas Guide to Credit [...]
